Debbie Glovin Rosenberg is a ceramic artist who
incorporates found objects in her hand thrown, high-fire
stoneware. A California native living in Malibu, she utilizes
indigenous materials in her work. The Oceanware series evokes
ocean gardens, an emerald lapidary term, by using individual
pieces of sea glass, sand dollars and shells to create the
cloisonné effect of her beloved Malibu surf. |

An avid world traveler, Rosenberg employs a cross-cultural and
historical perspective in her work. Her interest in history and
culture provide the inspiration for sculpted, carved, pierced,
threaded and rough treated clay. Many display incised blessings
from such languages as Thai, Latin, Hawaiian, Ethiopian, Chinese
and Hebrew. The finishes and shapes in works like Uterus echo
artifacts from her early explorations of archeological sites in
Israel and Italy. |

To honor worldwide events, while raising cultural awareness and
charitable contributions, Rosenberg has collected debris from
natural occurrences such as the Thai Tsunami, Haitian, Japanese,
Chilian and Chinese earthquakes, Hawaiian volcanic eruptions and
others. She uses the ash, in such powerful pieces as Tsunami,
with a variety of glazes in a painterly style suggestive of wave
energy. The art is available for exhibit, sale and commission |
